I hauled my luggage into town and boarded the bus around 1:20PM. We made a handful of stops on the way to Auckland but eventually arrived in Auckland around 6PM. My next bus wasn't until 7:50PM so I hung out a cafe in the bus terminal and had a toasted sandwich and some mountain dew. I started reading a book I'd acquired from a friend in Paihia as it was a good sized book and I figured it would be a good time killer.

Completely unbeknownst to me the book takes places almost entirely in Sweden which held a certain degree of poetry because I read the book for the entire 11 hour bus ride from Auckland to Wellington where I am meeting two Swedish friends for Christmas. I didn't sleep at all on the bus I just read my book. I came up about 40 pages short when I got to Wellington this morning around 7AM. I made good use of my GPS on this journey by checking on it throughout my trip down to see where we were and how far we were from the final stop. I also used it to find my hostel in Wellington. In hindsight I probably should of found a bus or taxi to the hostel as I ended up walking about 2KM to the hostel carrying all my baggage which really wasn't my idea of a good time although thankfully it was still reasonably cool at that time of morning.

When I got to the hostel I discovered I would be unable to check in until 1PM this meant I had to sit and occupy myself from about 8AM until 1PM. I spent the majority of the time on my laptop. I did however go out and grab some food as well as wander around the area near the hostel to see if there was anything exciting.

All in all the trip down here was fairly uneventful. A Swiss girl I met through a friend at The Salty in Paihia ended up getting on the bus in Rotorua and sat next to me but she didn't recognize me. That was really the only noteworthy event on the bus ride. I didn't get to see much of the scenery because it was dark for the large majority of the bus ride so I just read. I made it safely to Wellington.
