The yearbook Valentines Day fundraiser went just as I predicted. It was all in all largely unsuccessful, but I will leave you to judge that.
Firstly the class as a whole had to deal with this poorly organized fundraiser for two weeks plus leading upto the dreaded day. Secondly the advertising was poorly done, I suppose in all fairness not all blame can fall on the people in charge but I'd say 99% of it does. I realize that a large audience needed to be informed in a short amount of time, but better planning would have made this possible. Giving everyone three home rooms and a sheet with what to say will NOT get the job done especially if 3 or 4 groups are sent to the same class. Anyways enough of pre valentines day tomfoolery lets cut to the chase, you are probably dying to know just how much was raked in by this fundraiser. Well we are actually extremely lucky that we even made money. The people in charge of organizing the event decided that we would buy the flowers on Valentines Day, so they would be fresh, it never crossed anyone of their minds that maybe.... just maybe the flowers would be more expensive on Valentines Day. So they ended up paying $1.85 for every flower, instead of 2 for $1.00 2 weeks earlier. So the fundraiser according to Mrs.Gronow made around $50.00 now I have a feeling that number is lower, I seem to recall overhearing closer to $40.00. But that could just be me hearing things, eitherway $50.00 is a pretty dismal figure for 2 weeks of work. With some of the numbers Mrs.Gronow threw at the class on Wednesday I figure about 24 hours of actual work was put into it, which is a lot. Now we shall find out just how much was made per hour. I will break it down for you...
24 hours/$50.00
= $0.48/hour
So there you have it, the "fundraiser" raked in an amazing 48 CENTS AN HOUR. I don't know what more to say, case closed.
